Based on the Disney animated film version of the much loved fairytale and featuring the stunning Academy-Award winning musical score that made the animated film such a hit.
Disney´s Beauty and the Beast is the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
Set to enchant audiences of all ages, it is a classic tale of love, sacrifice, jealousy, revenge and redemption exploring an age-old theme: the true meaning of beauty.
Disney´s Beauty and the Beast opened on Broadway in 1994 and has since become an international sensation that has played to over 24 million people worldwide and finally arrives at the Princess Theatre in October 2010.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast with music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice and Book by Linda Woolverton will be produced by Encore Theatre Company by arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia Pty Ltd, Exclusive agent for Music Theatre International (NY).
