
U-Taste Workshops

Participate in a selection of one-day creative arts workshops designed by the University of Tasmania´s School of Visual and Performing Arts from their Bachelor of Contemporary Arts and the Tasmanian Creative Arts Summer School program.
Workshops include Studio Glass, Australia Art and Design, Body Ardornment, Drawing in the Landscape and Aboriginal Tasmania: Exploring Placescapes and Cultural Expression.
Studio Glass - All Levels
Explore kiln-firing and the possibilities for creating glass forms which can either be sculptural or functional. Participants will learn glass-making processes and design principles and will create a glass object.
Australian Art & Design - All Levels
Discover Tasmania´s take on art and design in Australia, through the rich enviroment of the city of Launceston. Walk, talk and breathe culture, historical and contemporary, as you take in the many sights of Launceston by foot.
Body Adornment - All Levels
Learn about small-scale sculpture in relationship to body adornment and explore intimacy of the object with the body. Make a piece of jewellery/sculpture to wear as body adonment using a range of materials including recycled electronics, wire and an assortment of found objects.
Drawing in the Landscape - All Levels
Explore approaches to drawing open-air spaces at Launceston´s iconic Cataract Gorge. This drawing workshop will address the representation of atmospheric conditions, ephemrality, viewing points, prespective conunfrums and dynamic elements in the landscape.
